Waste Collections, Bulky Waste and Recycling Centres

Regular Waste Collections; Black, Blue and Green Bins and how to dispose of bulky waste.

Warrington Borough Council undertake the collection of black, blue, and green bins.

Broadly speaking, black bins are for household waste (other than items which can be recycled), blue bins are for items which can be recycled and green bins (subscription applicable) are for garden waste.

Bulky Waste

Warrington Borough Council operates a Bulky Waste Collection Service so, if you have any furniture or electrical appliances (including ‘white goods’) which you don’t want or need anymore, you can arrange for them to be picked up from outside your home.  This is a chargeable service.  You can view details of the service and book a collection by following this link:  Get rid of furniture, electricals and other large bulky items | warrington.gov.uk

How much does it cost?

Up to five items can be picked up on each collection visit.

Up to three (3) items costs £30.06

Four (4) items costs £32.39

Five (5) items costs £37.44

Collections need to be paid for in full with a credit or debit card at the time of booking.

Other information:

  • Before booking a collection you might want to check that the items you need collecting are items Warrington Borough Council will collect.
  • To book a collection of your unwanted items, you will need to sign in or create a My Warrington account.
  • Collections from Birchwood are usually on a Monday.

Community Recycling Centres

The nearest recycling centre to Birchwood is situated on New Cut Lane in Woolston.

It is open on weekdays from 10 am until 4 pm and on weekends/bank holidays from 8 am until 6 pm (closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day).
