This year’s Carnival took place on Sunday 9th June 2024 at Birchwood Forest Park.

The Carnival started with the fancy dress procession, led by Batida Rio snaking its way across the park into the main arena where Councillor David Ellis presented prizes to the best dressed groups and formally opened the event.

During the afternoon the main arena act was Pedal vs Parkour who thrilled the audience with their skills on various bikes and on foot and Northern Starr performed a variety of dance routines, including dancing to the beat of the Samba band; Batida Rio.

There was a Fun Dog Show, circus skills and magic skills, Punch and Judy, Wipeout Challenge, surf simulator, climbing wall, Zoo2U, a local history display, fairground rides, stalls and refreshments.

The majority of the activities and entertainment were free of charge thanks to the generosity of event sponsors and volunteers; Birchwood Town Council, Warrington Borough Council, Sellafield Ltd, Your Housing Group, Birchwood Park, Birchwood Shopping Centre, Orano, ALDI, the Buddha Group, The Friends of Birchwood Forest Park, Birchwood Lions and PPL PRS Music.

Although the skies were overcast, it was a great day enjoyed by all.
